Patch Lining
Targeted patch lining for localized drain damage. A fast, cost-effective alternative to full pipe relining or excavation.
Discovering a cracked or leaking drain doesn't have to mean tearing up your driveway or destroying your garden. For localized pipe damage, patch lining offers a fast, permanent, and highly cost-effective repair solution. Clever Works specializes in trenchless patch lining across Farnham and Surrey, fixing structural defects from the inside out with zero excavation.
When a CCTV drainage survey reveals a displaced joint, a radial crack, or a specific point of root ingress, replacing the entire pipe is often unnecessary. Patch lining targets the exact point of failure, sealing the breach and restoring the structural integrity of your drainage system in a matter of hours, not days.
What is Patch Lining?
Patch lining is a "no-dig" repair method. We impregnate a fiberglass mat with a specialized silicate resin and wrap it around an inflatable packer. This packer is pushed through your drainage system to the exact location of the damage. Once in place, we inflate the packer, pressing the resin-soaked fiberglass tightly against the inside of the damaged pipe. After the resin cures (usually within an hour), the packer is deflated and removed, leaving a smooth, watertight, and incredibly strong repair patch permanently bonded to the pipe wall.

What to Expect: Our Process
- CCTV Inspection: We pinpoint the exact location and extent of the damage.
- Preparation: High-pressure water jetting is used to clean and descale the pipe, ensuring the resin bonds perfectly.
- Installation: The resin patch is positioned and inflated.
- Curing & Verification: Once cured, we perform a final CCTV survey to verify the repair is seamless and watertight. The whole process typically takes half a day.
Local Expertise in Farnham & Surrey
Farnham's diverse housing stock includes many period properties and Victorian homes with aging clay drainage systems. These older clay pipes are particularly susceptible to ground movement and tree root intrusion from Surrey's mature, leafy gardens. Patch lining is the perfect solution for these historic properties, allowing us to seal cracks and block roots without disturbing established landscaping or heritage paving.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a patch liner last?
Our patch liners are designed to last 50+ years, offering a permanent structural repair that is often stronger than the original pipe.
Can patch lining fix a collapsed pipe?
No, the pipe must retain its basic shape for the packer to pass through. Fully collapsed pipes require traditional excavation.
Will the patch restrict the flow of water?
The patch is only a few millimeters thick and is smoothed flat against the pipe wall, so it actually improves flow by covering rough defects.
Is patch lining cheaper than digging?
Yes, it eliminates the costs of excavation, labor, and surface reinstatement like replacing tarmac, paving, or landscaping.
