Drain Excavation & Replacement
Careful excavation and replacement for collapsed and unlinable drains - hand-dug where it matters, photographed throughout, reinstated properly.
We fix most drains without digging - and we say so on every page about relining and patching. But a collapsed pipe, a run laid with back-fall, or a section crushed by ground movement cannot be repaired from the inside. When excavation is the honest answer, the job is done the way groundwork should be: dug carefully, recorded at every stage, and reinstated so you would not know we had been there.

How we excavate
- Proven necessary first: excavation is quoted from CCTV evidence, never assumed. If a liner or patch can do it, that is what we quote.
- Services located before a spade goes in: buried pipes and cables traced and marked - the same discipline as our site investigation work.
- Hand-dug where it matters: against buildings, through finished surfaces and inside properties, by hand and to the minimum size that does the job.
- New pipework laid and tested: correct falls, proper bedding and surround, and a CCTV pass over the finished work before backfill.
- Reinstatement as part of the job: surfaces photographed before, during and after; paving re-laid, floors re-boarded, gardens made good.
Indoor excavations get particular care. On a recent under-floor repair the finished oak boards were lifted one by one, numbered, and re-laid in order after the new pipework went in - the photographs above are from that job. Occupied homes are where the difference between groundworkers shows.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know excavation is really necessary?
Only from camera evidence. A collapsed bore, a crushed section or significant back-fall are the genuine reasons; recurring blockages alone are not. We quote from CCTV footage and will review another firm's survey for free before you commit to digging.
Can you excavate inside the house?
Yes. Internal repairs are done with dust protection, floors lifted carefully with each board numbered for exact reinstatement, and the work area closed up properly at the end of each day.
What happens to my driveway or patio?
Surfaces are cut square, materials lifted whole where possible and set aside, and the surface reinstated to match. Before, during and after photographs document the site as found and as left.
Is the new pipework checked?
Yes - the replacement run is laid to correct falls, and a CCTV pass over the finished work before backfill goes into your completion report.
